Medical Director

Dr. Luis R. Arencibia, MD, FAAFP, FACCWS is a board-certified family medicine physician and Associate Clinical Professor at Tulane University School of Medicine. With over a decade of clinical experience, he specializes in wound care, direct primary care, and emergency preparedness. His diverse background spans urgent care, primary care, hospital-based medicine, and skilled nursing facilities, where he has led multidisciplinary teams and improved care delivery across settings.

At Tulane’s Direct Primary Care clinic, Dr. Arencibia provides personalized, relationship-based care while also contributing to institutional initiatives that advance innovative healthcare models. As a core faculty member in Tulane’s Family Medicine Residency Program, he is deeply committed to medical education, mentoring residents and students through a blend of academic rigor and practical training.

Beyond his academic and clinical roles, Dr. Arencibia is actively engaged in healthcare leadership and policy advocacy, working to improve systems of care at both local and state levels. He also serves with the National Disaster Medical System as a member of the Arkansas 1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team, having deployed to support disaster response efforts in Puerto Rico, North Carolina, and other critical regions. Additionally, he plays a key role in emergency preparedness planning at East Jefferson General Hospital.

Dr. Arencibia’s work reflects a strong dedication to compassionate care, continuous learning, and public service, with a keen interest in advancing medical knowledge and healthcare innovation.
